Since November 2025 I have supported The National Institute for Professional Advancement (NIPA) on Sint Maarten in their pursuit of accreditation by the National League for Nursing in the United States. The government of Sint Maarten nor the Netherlands recognise at this moment the true value of NIPA’s Diploma Nursing Program. An accreditation by NLN would be a breakthrough for the program, for NIPA and actually for Sint Maarten as a whole.
At this moment the first step has been achieved: the pre-accreditation stage. The decision followed the 9-11 June 2026 review by the NLN CNEA Board of Commissioners of Applications. Following that review, the Board formally confirmed that NIPA’s Diploma Nursing Program demonstrates sufficient evidence and institutional capacity to achieve full accreditation compliance within the three-year candidacy window. I am honoured and happy that I could contribute to bring the program to this point.
Pre-accreditation is not the finish line, it shows the bottomline. As mentioned in the People’s Tribune of June 24th: “The institution has been told that the foundation is there. Now comes the responsibility to build on it”.
